Spark plug issue
« on: June 09, 2010, 02:00:44 PM »
I was pulluing off the boots to check and clean my plugs when the 3rd plug wire pulled stright out of the boot and pulled out some of the braid in the process. I just screwed it back on and the rest of the boots were fine. Now when I start the bike I hear a pop sound, kinda like a missfire. Is it possbible that the screw inside the boot f'd up the inside end of the wire and now I don't have solid contact? If so, could I cut the wire back the length of the screw, then screw the boot back and have no issues?

Thanks
Kevin

i can't confidently speak to the pop sound, but you can definitely trim the plug  wire back 1/4 in and screw the cap back in.

Thanks, I wasn't sure if trimming the wire would really mess things up.
