looking for 1977-1978 Cafe Seat
« on: June 17, 2010, 07:45:21 PM »
I am looking for a cafe seat for my K8, the one I have on my bike now has been modified because it is too small for the frame. Can anyone post a link where I can find a cafe seat designed for the 77-78 frame?  Will Carpy's road racer seat fit a 1978? I called and emailed him about fitment, but havent heard back in over a week. I gotta get crackin on this thing. thanks

Frank...Guys... Not yet on the K7-8 seat. Too many small problems making it fit perfectly, and we will not release a product until it's absolutely right. The width of the K7-8 frame along with the resultant hinge to lock distance has been a serious challenge to creating a true bolt-on. But we're working on it...  :P  RR

Hi, I'm making some and they are for sale on EBAY. You can do a search for 77-78 phantom speedster seat. You can also go to my website and see how I mounted it. I designed this seat to match the style of the 77-78 CB750.

I love your seat man!  It is a perfect look for the 77-78's.  I actually ended up building my own (http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=77527.0).  If I had seen your seat during the summer, before I started mine, I sure as hell would have bought it.  I seriously love it man, very f'n cool.  nice work!

Lwitchey, I was gonna email you on eBay just to compliment you. Nice styling job on your seat pan! I don't do much with K7-8's, but if I were I'd sure consider using it. RR

Hi, I make some cafe seat pans for 77-78 CB750. I designed it specifically for that year, but it can be used for other applications. You can see it on Ebay. Search (77-78 phantom speedster seat).

I just bought one of witcheys seat pans for my 750 and was very impressed. You have to fabricate brackets, seat and cut outs for shock clearances. As for paint prep you could probably hit with sandpaper and spray. The mold is really smooth.

Chuck dont need oil. Engines run cause they are afraid of chuck! ;D

Thank guys, I am in the process of making 3 more. Some people do not realize what it takes to hand lay and finish something like this. I have just purchaced a CB750 K2, I will be making another mold after the first of the year. I have some ideas and this should be just as popular.
