75' CR750 wheel swap with a 78' CB750F
« on: February 08, 2006, 10:31:52 AM »
I have a chance to get some mag wheels from a 75' CR750.  Does any one know if these rims will fit on my 78 CB750f?  The race wheels have dual front rotors and the rear is a single rotor. same set up as my bike but will there be problems with spacing.  I think the front is a 18" and rear is a 17".
If this doesn't work out what would be my best bet for a larger tire in the rear.  I'd like to have a wider footprint.  Would a 16" gl1000 wheel fit if so what years?
I'm sure some of these questions have been answered somewhere, but I suck at the internet. :o
Any help would be much appreciated.
Peace.

I don't think those rims will work with your bike. Also, if the rims you're talking about are the red ones on Ebay it looks like you'll be duking it out with a Airborne ranger(dec505) for bragging rights :)

Here's a link that might help-

From what I've read there is no "easy" way to replace your Comstars. I've fit a 130/90 rear tire on my '78 750f with no clearance problems, but it handled like a dog so I went back down to 120/90.

Just wondering, what's the Airborne ranger bit? Someone on here, you mean?

I happened to see the CR750 wheels on Ebay and, as always, checked to see if the current bidder was a forum member before placing a bid on them. Sure enough, dec505 is a new member and has a Airborne Ranger patch as his avatar.

Damn you. I had plans for those wheels. I just got my frame back from the powdercoater its radio flyer red. I wanted to buy those rims and have them powedercoated then resell them on ebay. At 10 bucks (the opening bid) that seemed like a great moneymaker for me. Plus the more stuff I bring into have powdercoated at a time the cheaper it is. We won't have to duke it out this time. But just a warning next time you see me as a high bidder. I was a level 4 combative when I was in the army and now I'm an instructor at Team Quest one of the best MMA Gym's in the country.
