Front and rear blinker help
« on: July 18, 2010, 10:50:26 AM »
OP said he "disabled" the blinkers on the front because he didn't like how they were grounded to the frame, and removed the rears but provided me with the rears (one is damaged).

I am trying to remove the fronts to inspect them and am having some trouble.  I don't want to force it to hard.  I loosen/remove the nut that holds the blinker assembly on to it's mounting arm and it rotates freely, but only pulls about 3/4inch off before stopping.

Is there some reason this would not just freely come off?  Is there any reason not to simply pull as hard as I can?  I realize the wire may snap but I have to get the darn thing off!  Maybe some wd-40 in between the collar and the tube of the blinker?

Here is what I am trying to separate:

FYI for any other noobs like me...

You have to fully remove the bolt holding the blinker on to remove the unit, not just loosen it.  There is a depression in the tube that holds the blinker unit for the bolt, and if you don't remove the bolt completely, the bolt will prevent it from coming off the tube.

Now, on to the electrical issue...
