two questions for a '75 cb750
« on: February 13, 2006, 06:35:21 PM »
Hello All!!

First question: I have a very late '74 750 and I have two styles of turn signals to choose from. Did the late '74s go with the more domed, old style turn signals (I have these on my '69 750) or the more flat, newer style. Sometime during those years there was a change to the flatter, larger style.

Second Question: On the '74 750, im installing an oil pressure sensor. I have the plug with the 90 degree attachment, but no sensor itself. Did Honda come out with an oil pressure sensor that was specifically made for the 750, or does everyone use just a plain sensor that screws onto the 90 degree attachment?

Also, I have a '77 750 Super Sport that needs a lot of work. The previous owner left the bike outside, so the engine is stuck ( I think a bit of diesel will do the trick) Im wanting to get rid of the bike and maybe trade for a early 70's cb360. Let me know!! Thanks everyone!

Congrats on your find! Don't exile yourself to the thoughts of selling your 750, you may find (as many have) that it really grows on you.
By "plug with 90 degree adapter", I'm assuming that what you have is an oil galley cap with a 90* elbow in it. Most guys got a gauge from Drag Specialties or other, and thread it right on the elbow. Bear in mind you'll need a gauge that goes to 100psi, because it's not uncommon for a cold engine to be pushing 80 psi at a start... most Harleys (for which the 60psi max gauges are made) only get to 40-50 psi cold.
The '74 signals, IIRC, had the tapered backs and the domed lenses... my '73 does. I think they didn't go to the curved backs and larger lenses until '76. I could be wrong, though, it wouldn't be the first time.

Yeah, I have the domed lenses on the bike now, but in most pictures on Ebay, the flat lenses are on the late 74's and on. I kinda like the domed lenses, but i'd like to keep the bike as original as possible...

Ill have to take a few pictures of my super sport for your viewing pleasure, but if I keep it, ill probably need a other parts bike to make one (missing seat, fender, rear axle, etc.) Does anyone know of a good bike junk yard in the midwest US to get some of these parts? Cheers!!

My 75 K5 was manufactured in Nov. of 74 and has the newer style, larger type lenses. This was a change mandated by law that all U.S. models have that style. The older
style like you have, continued on models that were shipped to markets outside the U.S. to my understanding. Are you sure you have a K5 and not a K4 sold near the end of it's model run?
Just curious...

My K5 has the large lenses and curved backs. By the way Nunnik6, exactly what part of the midwest are you from? there are a few yards here in Kansas, but my favorite is in Wichita, Ks.

Nah, Im near the Iowa/Minnesota border... I know of a few junk piles here at local salvage yards, but none around here have any SS parts... mostly frames and engines.
