Tips before closing the engine back up.
« on: July 13, 2010, 08:10:21 PM »
Hey, there - I have an '80 CB650C.  I dropped the case covers off to get coated and will be getting them back this weekend.  Before I close it all back up (generator, clutch, sprocket cover, etc) is there anything that I should check out?  The engine is pretty pristine with only 7K miles, but I wanted to make sure there isn't anything I should look into while it is open.

Also, when I replace the two cover gaskets, do I just put them in place dry, or should they be lubed up with anything?

Thanks in advance!

Just make sure it is all in there right. everything is set to tolerance and properly torqued.
Valve cover gaskets? Put in dry.
Seals and "O" rings I'd lube with a touch of oil first.

LOL dont do like a buddy of mine and forget to set the valves LOL ... He did this on his quad and had a heck of a time getting it to run.... I dont know why HEHEHEHEHEHE. I know it was not funny to him but I got him going.

Thanks for the feedback.  Won't have any trouble with the valves, as I'm only doing stuff on the bottom end.
