Aussie's freakin' rock !!!!
« on: July 29, 2010, 01:48:35 PM »
so about a year ago i discovered the band Rose Tattoo .
my first thought was  "man, this band seriously kicks ass"   so i started filling my collection with there music (thinking it was relatively new) ... while doing so i realized there lyrics were a bit "dated" ..(songs about vietnam ..ect)  so i looked a little deeper and ..wow .. these guys have been around forever .. and...how did i miss that?

so maybe my country's radio stations (at the time) and record labels thought , me , the picky american wouldn't like Rose Tattoo (either that or i was sleeping under a rock)

...so what else have i maybe missed from the land down under ..   hey looky here a little band called SpiderBait

(a little Johnny Cash anyone?)

.... and this forum is (sadly) my only outlet to ask actual Aussie's what they're listen to ...so i'm askin

What else have i missed ?

Well, there is this little group I kinda like called Acadaca that is mostly a bar band with some good toe-tapping ditties.
But don't tell too many people about them, they might get too big and popular.  :)

Hey Spikey, when i lived in Sydney the "Tatts" {rose tattoo} were my local club band, seen them and "the Angels" {another one worth checking out} so many times i can't remember......Great Aussie bands. Guns and roses do a Rose tattoo cover and tried to get Rose tattoo's slide guitarist to join GNR, apparently they loved the "Tatts". Bad boy for love and rock and roll outlaw were some of the first cover songs i ever played and they are still classic's.........Good find Spike..... ;D

The guy who is the drummer in Rose Tattoo (Paul Demarco) is an old school buddy from my home town in Port Pirie, Sth. Aust.
Pete (petercb750), Maxine would probably know his sister Barb.
Angry Anderson (Lead Singer) is a good bloke who promotes teaching our kids about the right values in life.

Been a big fan of Rose Tattoo since I was a kid, Guns 'n' Roses did a cover of "Nice Boys" this is one of my other favorites:
Just found out about Spiderbait a few years ago, they did a great cover of Ram Jam's song "Black Betty"

if you like the "tatts" try and find some old "chain" its blues rock stuff for drinking beer to,and you might like the angels,,fast rock for drinking beer to aswell,"company caine" and "carson" are pretty hard to find and never really got airplay here but were good for drinking beer to ."mental as anything" have good songs ,for example their song "too many times"about waking up with a hangover from drinking beer.,early "skyhooks"had a few good tracks,,like motorcycle btich for example.

Hey Mick - Barb actually works for the same mob as me (the world just gets smaller), and yes her and maxine have "re-aquainted" and Barb remembers you. I'm pretty sure that Paul is a cousin of hers, not brother.
