Thanks Stev-o, I love this bike.

Are you repainting yours like stock?  Ever look at that number inside the hub?

After seeing yours, I'm rethinking the color. Bringing the bike to my buddy's shop tomorrow, so will have them off soon. Running out of room in the "mother lode cave"!

I'd say if you're keeping them like me, paint them however you please, but I think they appeal to a wider market of buyers (more $$$) with the stock look, because they want that nostalgic look.  It takes a lot of masking work to repaint them stock though..

She does alright for a mostly stock set up.  The $80 Cyclex shocks were a great replacement, and are at least equivalent to new stock shocks: not performance, and comfortable on the street.  The front end is stock 500/4, with fresh oil about a year ago.  I check the swing arm every few months, and I grease the collar periodically.  I have fun in the twisties, but I can't go into sharp corners too hot.  Some nice progressive springs are in the future..

No way Stev-o!  Your motherlode included an (earlier?) K bike with Koni's!  I just got a bunch of parts motors, '80s stuff almost no one wants, and fifty junk seats :P I guess we'll see how much I pick up in the next haul (that's already paid for ;) )

Tews, I've been selling some goodies off too!  Gotta pare it down to the real good stuff ;)  BTW, you are first in line for something very special...let's talk.

I, uh, did he just say he needed to pare it down to the really good stuff? So, what does that make the stuff you are trying to pawn off, er, I mean sell to the rest of us... ;D
joking around...

;D ;D You guys get the (just) good stuff.  I try to keep the really good stuff ;)

I adjusted the valves and went for a nice ride.  The handling is much improved with the new wheels.

Wonder what those wheels would look like on the bike painted in gunmetal or charcoal gray?

I bet they would look great.  Black wheels have never done it for me, so I felt free to paint them however I pleased.  I'll be using the same paint for the motor I'm rebuilding this month for this bike with those low compression 1.00 over pistons, and, ahem, a turbo ;)
