i agree that a little more fuel gets pulled up from the bowls...but I would be interested in how much more...anyway...I used the same technique(?) in seeing if my carbs were lean...with the choke that is...but nothing beats a good, complete pug chop.

JD...keep inmind that the needles in your carbs are not adjustable...

I was informed that these carbs ARE adjustable somewhat. you can place thin washers between the clip on the needle and seat, this will raise the needle.

I still stand by foam as being a means to tune. So what if airflow is a bit different. ISnt that what a carb sync is for anyways? Because these carbs are never on anyways. You can set everything the same and still have to do a sync because each one operates different anyways.

The foam does not get packed in like a freakin parachute. Just enough to control turbulence. So the net affect is that you MAY provide the same resistance as the stock filter does while still at least controling the air turbulence going into the carbs.  There are many engines that use dual filters.

I see no reason one could not just use the older style needles on the K8 carbs...I have thought of trying it myself...right after I chop up some pugs...for taco meat.  ;D
