Can you get replacement key? No Keys!
« on: July 31, 2010, 07:21:37 PM »
I just bought a bike and it has no keys to go with it. Is it possible to get a key cut just from the code on the ignition?

Try www.Hondakeys.com. All you should need is the number from the lock.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

Just got some genuine keys plus a blank from Hondakeys - prompt and good value.

Yup, any locksmith worth his salt will be able to cut a key from the code...or at least make one to fit the ignition switch if you bring it in.
I'm bringing my CM400's switch in tomorrow since they didn't find my code...

Good to know. I was going to go out there to look for a few bits and pieces for this bike.
Thanks

Does the same hold true for the seat lock?

PO had uninstalled the seat lock and didn't have the key, but I would like to put it back on...

I've also taken a bike to the locksmith, who made a seat key on the spot!  :)

Awesome.  I gotta find a good locksmith then...

This place is great.  Really great.

I am new to riding and to 'fixing' and maintaining things in general, and you guys have all been terrific.  Thanks!

Went to local key guy and he made one up off the numbers and it worked. He said that the ones from the internet companies dont always work and he ends up fixing them. Of course he would say that.
