What seat fits?
« on: February 21, 2006, 09:40:37 PM »
I am looking for a seat that will fit my bike.

If anyone can help would really appreciate some information or comments.

Bike is a 1976 750F1 Frame... it came with no seat at all. The original seat locking mechanism has been cut/ground off, on the opposite side of the frame there are still two threaded sections that look like the seat may mount to.

I would like to know which seats from other models that are the same or similar size, will also mount to this frame, ie cb550,cb650, 750 etc???

My local wrecker has quite a few seats, but I would like to pick out the best of the bunch that will go on the bike.

thanks for the assist.. :) :)

Is the bike in your avatar the one you need a seat for? If so,then the question would be "Which seat will fit with my tank". Previous owner might have had to modify the frame(cutting the seat latch) in order to use another seat type that would fit with the tank.If the bike were a stock '76 750F I would suggest getting a 75-76 750F seat.

As far as what will fit your frame, the two "threaded sections" are where the seat hinge mounts to and, since you no longer have a locking mechanism to deal with I'd think you could choose just about any 750 seat( and I would guess 550,650 too) provided that the seat hinge was on the same side and that it fits well with your tank. What type of fender and tail light you end up using may affect your decision so good to know that before you choose a seat.
Give me..a frame to build a bike on, and my imagination will build upon that frame

If you want a new one David Silvers has the correct model for about $200.

I've got a nice, custom, Mustang, King/Queen seat that will fit your bike that I am planning on sellig this spring (I'm doing the Cafe racer thing with mine). But if you're looking for the quick route of grabbing one out of the salvage yard, any seat from 75-78 F model should fit the bike.

Hope this helps

I found one that fits pretty well.

the wrecker had it marked as a cb750 K0 or K2 - it had been roughly recovered and pretty rusty around the bottom edges after I peeled the cover off., it was also cracked across the front half of the seat, just in front of the swivel bracket section and on the opposite side as well.

Peeling off the foam, pressed into the the underside the number "392", does this signify the model of the seat??. Overall foam appears to be OK, but it sure stinks....

after a few hours of wire wheel on the pan, most of it back to bare metal, and having welded the cracks, painted it this monring, then dropped the digital camera in a hurry to get a picture to post here, now I can't turn the camera on, button is jammed good and tight..

will try and repair the camera now.. :'( :'(
