"Bullet" fairing for 5" headlight?
« on: February 26, 2006, 04:35:54 PM »
Hi all.

Wondering if anyone has any info on availability of a bullet style fairing for a 5" headlight.  I know I can get on for the 7" bucket at JCWhitless or Dennis Kirk, but then I need to change the fork ears to accomodate the bigger bucket.

http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Product/tf-Browse/s-10101/Pr-p_Product.CATENTRY_ID:2000644/showCustom-0/p-2000644/N-111+600014140+10211/c-10111

Anybody know of some place still selling something like that?

Thanks.

Not sure about a 5" light fairing but you can get the same deal from speedmotoco off of ebay for about $10 cheaper

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Honda-CB750-Cafe-Racer-Fairing-CB-750-fits-1969-1976_W0QQitemZ4616399533QQcategoryZ35597QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Its a nice piece of work.....got one from them for my Kawa H1......and the shield is a darker smoke.

Yeah, LoudFastnUgly has them for 49.95 too.  I'm hoping someone knows of one for a 5 inch bucket.  Otherwise I'll have to do some 'fiddling'. :P

I looked all over and couldn't find one... may have to just make a shim or deal with the gap.  :-[

I suppose it depends on how the gap looks. If the biucket is recessed, you may be able to make a rubber gasket that makes the headlight look designed that way. You might even be able to use a flexible plastic and cut it how you need it to fit then paint it.

If the bucket sticks out a bit, then you might have to do something else.

I've seen .75x.5" adhesive-backed closed-cell foam that could possibly be used as a gasket between the fairing and the headlight, to keep things from getting between them or whatnot. It's already black, so you don't have to worry about color-match unless you paint the fairing a different color.

Holey shmokes, great Honda riders think alike!! ;D

That's one of the options I was thinking of, maybe with some 2 sided tape and black foam.  Or something.  Fairing is going to be red, unfortunately.  Not that it's unfortunate that it's red, just that it won't match the foam.  Really.

Well red and black do go together fairly well. Might not look too bad really.

Hmm, I'll have to play around with Photo shop a bit tonight, see how it looks.  Or more accuratelly - my daughter will have to play around with photoshop a bit to see how it looks, especially if she wants to start riding this summer.. :D :D

I actually have one of these in nice shape I removed from my 400F.  I can hold it back in place for you guys and take a look.  I'd actually like to sell it if anyone is interested.

BH, I'd be interested in seeing a picture of your triple with that fairing on it...
