Completed CB650 rebuild, etc.Yeah!!!
« on: February 26, 2006, 06:55:58 PM »
I've just got to celebrate and this forum should take alot of credit.  Last spring, I acquired a 82' CB650 (ODO = 17,000 mile) for next to nothing $ that had sat for many years.  Gas tank rusted out, chain rusted bad, clutch frozen, etc.  I got it running and found that is was mechancially ok and decided this winter that I would replace tires, chain, brake pads, head gasket, throttle cables, and many other small items.  I finally got it back together enough to start it and it runs fine.  I can't wait to get it on the road when the weather gets warmer.  It also came with a vetter fairing which I took off and put on a regular headlight and turn signals to run around a little last summer.  Now, I think I will put the fairing back on - cause at age 53 I think I don't need the wind on me.  I hadn't ridden for almost 30 years, so it is great to get back to biking and I love the ole' CB650.  I searched many previous posts to get advice on the head gasket oil leak thing and many other tips.  I can't say enough for how helpful this site was.  Thanks for all your input.  I just wanna ride........

If you do the work yourself its never done.  There is always some little thing that you will want to improve or replace.   Have fun good luck.
