Bogging Down When the Engine is Hot
« on: April 27, 2005, 06:02:42 PM »
I just replaced the head gasket on my 78 CB750K and after about 50 miles, the gasket is leaking again!  I'll have to re-torque the headbolts.

Since I replaced the gasket the bike will bog down when the engine gets hot.  Otherwise it runs great.  A biker behind me says he can smell gas when the bike is hot.  I didn't touch the carbs so I'm baffled!   Any suggestions.

Hiya,

Your bike is definitely running rich (as I'm sure you have worked out!). Try removing the air filter and taking it for a quick spin. The filter may be blocked.

Cheers.

The air screws are set at 1 1/4 turns out, obviously I'll have to open them up more.
