Trouble finding hi perf piston rings
« on: September 12, 2010, 12:43:01 pm »
Hi guys, not alot of experience in the Field of finding rings, usually the come attached to the piston kits I'm using.

I have tried to look online but I have not found 65mm rings with 1.5 top, 1.5 second, 2.5 oil.

I can reuse the top and seconds if I have to, but I would rather not even though they measure well, a couple of the original cast oil rings were broken in the vent sections, I would really like to switch to a 3 piece but need new regardless.

Any ideas?

I would call TOTAL SEAL RINGS.........http://www.totalseal.com/
Best rings out there, and they can make rings for any engine.  I run them in my turbo'ed 750.   ;)

Ask to speak to Ed when you call. Super guy. He has fit rings for my 900 pistons from his off the shelf inventory and cut the pistons for his rings for my 1080 when he couldn't find rings off the shelf that would fit. Also, Hastings ID'd my 812 pistons as using CB350 rings some years back. Rings can be done!

CB350 rings fit my Yoshi 812 pistons which are 64mm. I had that verified/ID'd by Hastings Rings many years ago by sending a piston to them. That would make your's 4th over CB350 (350 twin).

Good call Dragon. Just measured mine. They are indeed 1.5, 1.5, 2.5.

Look up the old 350 twin 68-72(?) for the 4th over. Be sure you get the latest part number to get 3 piece oil rings.

Good find guys, you are indeed correct, total seal was going to set me back 200 plus machine the oil groove, as the only have standard and .25 for 350's these are plug and play!!!

Mike, 2 sets of 2pistons worth or 2 sets of 1piston worth?

Bore tech has them with 3 piece oil rings 27 a set, hopefully they are good quality.

$27 a piston? That doesn't sound like too bad of a price, I think I might re-ring an old 836 kit (made with those 350 pistons) I've got out in the shop. Thanks for the link.
