Wanted: Close-up photo of K7/K8 choke linkage
« on: June 15, 2010, 04:12:54 AM »
The photo in my Honda manual doesn't provide enough detail for me to see how it's put together. Since splitting the carbs and reassembling, the choke system didn't go back together correctly, which is a bummer since everything else went so well.

Any help?

Yeah that little spring in the middle was a PIA.  I can take some pictures when i get home (at work) if you still need them.  I luckily had a spare set to look at while I was rebuilding my carbs.

It is pretty simple really. Biggest issue seems to be making sure every thing is lined up so there is no binding. Since each set in essence, is free turning, if there is binding, flaps 3 and 4 like to get stuck. So when you put it all together, loosen the manifold plate and the rear bar. Get it aligned and then tighten kinda like you would lug nuts, making sure the alignment stays.

Yeah, I definitely lost that spring. I was 99% sure there was a spring there at some point but couldn't find it on my workbench for the life of me when I was reassembling. I picked up a couple at the hardware store that looked to be about the right size but neither of them worked very well. I don't suppose this is an easy thing to find.

Hello, i'm having trouble with my 78 750 K choke.  My bike choke seems to have no effect on the engine.  The plates close but still nothing... i noticed an adjusting spring close to the base carb... can this be the cause?  Can you shed some light on this issue?  Thanks, Bob
