El, those of us who have 2 stroke Yamahas are a pretty chipper bunch. Perhaps you have been dealing with the Virago crowd, in which case I'd be inclined to agree.

First came the Harley rant, now the Yamaha. I only hate chinese bikes. Please wake me up when is time to rant about Zong Wai owners.

Let me know if I understand how the logic works:

a) Some of my customers are #$%*s
b) All of them own a Yamaha

So, all the Yamaha owners are #$%*s.

Why not...?

Cheapo, let me tell you that your presumptions are very simple. If you want to run your own business you better get ready to deal with #$%*s on a daily basis, and do it with a smile while you get their business. As they say, "if we don't care for our customers, someone else will do". or the chinese proverb: "the man who can't smile shouldn't open a shop". When the sun sets, an #$%* will still be an #$%*, but you will be a little bit richer. Just my two cents...

I never had any problem with Yamahas ever since I got my first one in 1971. Parts are harder to get than Hondas so I guess That's why I own more Hondas now. But the Yamaha dealer I knew in Las Vegas gave me best support. How did politics get into this?

Maybe some of the new Yamaha owners (probably riding the new Star bikes) can be as rough as the worst of the Harley riders (those people usually buys big bikes to make-up for their own small troubles) but the Yamaha owners that I knew (including my best friend who rode a 1976 DT400) during my youth were cool. I also know an Iranian Christian who had to escape from that country with his family after the revolution of 1979, is a cool guy who used to ride a 1975 RD400. He miss that bike so much. Even the first Harley guy I knew were cool too, he owned a 1971 Sportster and lived right across my house when I got my first bike, the new 1972 AT2. He gave me much support and advise to ride the bike safely and even give me a bunch of old magazines, most chopper magazines that I still treasure to this day. I guess I'm spoiled because I've never met bad Yamaha nor Harley owners.

I have owned several Yamahas (XS850, XJ650's and had 3 XS650's over the years). On the basis of this premis I should not piick up the free 1972 RD250/RD350's I have been offered?

Like most generalizations, this line of reasoning doesn't hold water. I find people respond to the way they Think you are treating them, oftentimes falsely.

example:, hockey is played in Canada, therefore all Canadians are hockey pucks.
