750 wiring
« on: March 09, 2006, 11:04:59 AM »
okk, i have wired what i need from the manual, but i cannot seem to get a spark. it says that green is ground, and black (connects to red in the ig switch) is power, right? i am almost positive i have it 100% right, but this is my first custom wireharness, and i might be wrong. is there any way ( that does not involve me spending too mush money) to test the coils?
there is one place i am a little shaky, on the diagram, there is a red/yellow wire going from the starter selonoid to the starter switch, and from there, the switch grounds. my selonoid has a black wire comming off it. is that for ground? in other words, does my selonoid need to be grounded? or would that just create a short.?
as for the wires, they seem to come off at the same place (the yellow/red and the black, so i cant tell wether i shoud ground the selonoed or not)

thanks
mike

The starter solenoid is basiclly a relay, the bolts on top go to the battery + and to the starter motor. the two leads are the switch.  Im sure its not grounded, remember that the starter switch will also be connect to the kill and clutch switch

ok, the coils were arc tested, and are good to go. i put a new ig switch on it, so i am sure that is fine.

now i guess i need to test my harness for power, but my ground is ok, (sparks against the + terminal) i need to check that my coils are getting poswer, then it is probably the condensors that are bad,

well, ill post again after i check

later

There is a site called "oldmanhonda" {do google search} go into the motorcycle section ,then
wiring diagrams .it's the best interactive set up i have seen yet, just click on the circuit you wish to trace, then check your wiring .
