I'm in Taylors Falls, an hour north east of the cities. Currently on the look out for a CB550.

Hey a thought... Maybe a ride can be organized for all the Upper Plains States (ND, SD, MN and WI)... I would suggest a ride through Mankato to Faribault... What do you local guys think? Let me know, I know two Sioux Falls SD riders who would attend.

Wow...this thread is still going, slow, but still going!

I sold my CB, moved to Dallas again for a year...bought a brand new Triumph and then moved back to Hudson, WI!  I'll try and keep an eye out and meet up with some of the SOHC guys so I can drool over your bikes.

Selling my CB is near the top of the list of dumb things I've done...

Well, if you're interested, I'm in Taylors Falls, not too far north of you, and my CB550K is for sale.

in a few weeks it should level out and we should have some decent weather (if we avoid this SNOW!)... so, is there anyone still in the area? I'm in uptown if anyone is around :)

Okay this is my suggested route for a Northern Plains meet-up and ride... Centrally located so SD, ND, WI, and IA riders might be able to attend.

Start in St. Peter...
99 East through Le Center & Sheildsville where is connects to 21 East.
Through Faribault on 60 East out to 57 just South of Wanamingo.
57 South to 24 West until it turns to 12 just South of Moland.
12 West until you head North to Morristown, then West on 60 until Madison Lake.
North out of Madison Lake until Cleveland and back West to St. Peter.

Now there are a couple really neat places to stop at along the way. One I know is a Cafe/Bar in Faribault where the shot a scene from Grumpy Old Men. Or if anyone has other ideas put them down, including dates for the planned ride/meet...

We might be relocating to MN. My wife has a job offer pending. If the money is right, we are moving! It would be in the southeast area.....around Winona/Rochester.

Howdy everyone.  I live in Brooklyn Park (yeah, I'm bringing it Home to the Park, daily).  I ride a 1975 CB550.
I've also started a riding club, we've had a heck of a response, but I'd like to see more classics.

Just south of St.Paul.
Went riding down by Afton this last weekend and saw a fellow cafe'd SOHC racer riding with a bunch of sport bikes. Anyone...anyone?

Nice bike.

I'd be so overwhelmed with gratitude if I could find someone in town who could help me with the finer points of tuning my 78 cb750F. Anyone around the Minneapolis area willing to donate an evening or a weekend afternoon?

I'm eager to learn and I definitely would appreciate the help! The shops in town aren't too fond of my old beast.

I'm pretty sure what she needs is a carb sync, timing set & cam tensioner set. Unfortunately I'm the only person who I know that has an older bike. So, I'm sans timing light and sync gauges. Are you around the metro area?

Yeah, Im just south of St.Paul and I just happen to have a timing light and a sync gauge set.
I haven't done timing with point on my bike, I went ahead and bought Dyna ingition right off the bat. I hate points, never had any luck with them before. The cam chain tensioner is easy to set as long as its not stretched too much.

How may miles are on it?
Any low end throttle problems? Carbs may need cleaning (slow jets).

well, damn! I've actually been thinking about getting a dyna myself. Might be a better option in the long run. The bike has 16k on it. I imagine the carbs could use a cleaning, but I've been in a situation where I don't have a proper garage 'shop' for a while... but I'm moving to a spot where I will finally be able to set up in a proper garage again. So, a pull and clean will probably happen. It's not so much in the low end as it is when I get up a few gears and then I get a drag before acceleration. Sometimes it flutters out, too. The idle is a bit wonky, too. There are a few other odd things that happen as well and I think another person familiar with these guys would certainly help in diagnosing what needs attention.

how far south are you?

Yes, no problem. Let me know when you'd want to do it and we'll compare schedules
Im no pro, but I've done most every tune up job that can be done to these.

Take it easy.

Hey,
I just bought a 74 cb550 as my first bike not too long ago, learning quickly.  I'm in Blaine.  If there are any rides/meets around I'd love to join and check out some more old Hondas.

Did you ever get your 350 running?  If not, Full Power Cycle in Hopkins was pretty good to deal with, they work on a lot of older stuff.

I did actually get her running, finally. I was right by that shop the other day, though.

Hey all!
I'm in Cushing, Wi. just north of Saint Croix Falls and not too far away from Sunrise. I drive right through there every time I go to the inlaws house in Harris.
There are old bikers and there are bold bikers but there are very few old, bold bikers.
