Wow- Lots of MN folks here!

I am in New Ulm (work in Mankato),  but I grew up in the North Branch (elementary & middle school) and Chisago Lakes (high school) areas.

I even attended the old 2-room school house in Almelund during 3rd and 4th grade-  It is now a museum!

Small world!

I graduated Chisago Lakes in 91.  It really is a small world - grew up east of Forest Lake in Scandia.

Hey mg- I'm class of 1983.  I worked at the (old) Swedish Inn for 8 years during high school and part of college.  My mom and one sister live in Lindstrom.

I moved to Winona last year and am amazed by the beautiful, twisty and empty roads along the river and bluffs. Great riding down here. Let me know if anyone is heading down HWY 61 this spring.

Im up just south of St.Paul.

Been to Winona too many times to count. It is great riding down in that neck of the woods.  I love the Sat\Sun early morning rides. I usually loop to Winona down Hwy61 and the ride the Wisc side up to Prescott. 220 miles of great veiws.

Hello MN sohc,
I'm in mounds park saint paul (very near downtown on the bluffs).
I've got a 78 550k, a 77 550f, and a 77 yamaha xs650d.  I rode the 78 around lake superior this summer and would love to meet some mn sohc guys.  I'm riding to the apostle islands with my girlfriend this weekend.

I'm all over the place. Right now in Maple Grove, soon to be back in Minneapolis. I'm always down for riding if anyone ever wants to I think a big ride through the city would be prettty awesome.

Pete,
Thanks.  The trip was great.  The ride could have been prettier, and it rained almost all day on saturday and sunday, but the island was alot of fun.  The trip showed me the shortcomings of my riding gear.  Always happy to be on a bike though.

Anyone else think that Sport Wheelz in Jordan is a huge rip off? They wanted $65 for a 75 550 rotor. I almost lost it!

What diameter is the brake rotor?:
I have a few off of CB750s from the 70s.
If it'll work $20 for one.

I gotta bring my 750 up here next spring. I keep the bikes in Iowa (huge shop courtesy the family farm) but live in St Paul. If nothing else, I just want to ride it 6 blocks up to Stogies on Grand, puff a cigar and watch the endless harleys go by.  I've got my 550 motor here in pieces and am looking for an outfit to bore the cylinders. Anybody know of a good shop?

I would recomend R&R Performance in Spring Lake Park. I used to build a lot of racing engines and they do a great job. I know the owner of the machine shop there, Brian, and he does a great job. He also races motorcross, so I know he'll be into any motorcycle project.

Excellent. I'll give them a try. Their site came up on google, but it wasn't very specific about the kind of work they do...Like I was saying, I have a 550 that I'm re-building and am going to try and fit some 60mm pistons from a edit: (kawasaki) gpz600. The standard bore for the 550 is 57.5, so there is some work to be done to fit them. I'll give those guys a call next week...Thanks for the reference.

Hi all!
I'm in Maplewood. '74 CB750K4 with lots O miles, but that's ok. I plan on reliving my childhood by chopping another Honda! Did a 450 back in the early 70's but then the darn wife got pregnant. Bye Bye bike. Bummer. he he...Now they're grown so the fun can start fresh!

Lot's of mods to do and all winter to do 'em! I won't have much salvageable stock parts, but what I figure is still good I'll alert ya'll here first.

Again, Nice to meet you all.

Jim

Well, was out for the last ride of the year today (barring any unnaturally warm weather in the next month) and twas a wee bit chilly...36 degrees and snow on the ground. I didn't last too long but needed to get out for one more before calling it a season. Anybody else out there braving it?
