Spark Plugs
« on: March 12, 2006, 04:01:40 PM »
The book says for my 1975 Honda CB550, to use a spark plug that is hot enough and won't foul.  Also use one for the type of season and you might need two different ones according to the season.  I live in Ohio with cold winters and hot summers at times. Anyone know which spark plug is the best for my motorcycle and the part number?  You're help is greatly appreciated. :'(

I ran the NGK D7EAs and this past summer was hot and the few morning I took the bike to work were damn cold.  I don't think I would run and colder or hotter plug.

The NGK D7ES and Nippon Denso X22 ES are both suitable for the 550. I've run the ND's in both hot and cold weather the bike ran fine in both. Although the owners manual states that if the bike is to be operated for extended periods at high speeds in hot climates the plug should be changed to a colder heat range. That would be for AZCB550F :P
