CB 350 4 carb kits
« on: November 07, 2010, 06:26:22 AM »
I had a man ask me about rebuilding his carbs. The kits I have seen on EBay do not have the o-rings for the tubes between the carbs. Are there any kits that do and where would I get them?
 Thanks Dannie

In the past, I've bought the proper size metric O-rings for the fuel tee and transfer tubes from a local (Houston, TX) industrial O-ring supplier.  Unfortunately, I've used up all I had on hand in that size, and need to put together an order of various sizes to meet their minimun order quantity.  I'll call them this week to verify their current purchasing policies and, unless something has radically changed, I'll place an order.  If you're not in a rush, check back on this thread later in the week for an update.

Try Honda. the 16010-333-315 gasket kit has all the gaskets and o-rings for one carb, including the fuel tee. At the end of doing four you have a set of tee o-rings left over.
This kit has no metal parts. The part that usually wears out is the float valve, and although expensive the one from Honda is the best available. The aftermarket kits have lots of problems - the needles are not original taper and the engine runs poorly with them, the bowl O-rings seem to soak up fuel and expand making working on the carbs difficult as you have to let the o-rings dry out and shrink back to size (hours) before reassembling, and the float valves are dodgy (just my opinions based on experience).

Bodi, do you think Honda has improved the elastomer grade on the 16010-333-315 kits to cope with ethanol-laden fuel?  I've typically been using 70Durometer Buna-N, but was thinking of maybe sourcing some Viton O-rings on this next purchase.

Are we pretty certain the OEM Honda O-rings have also been Buna-N all along?  The way some of the aftermarket kit rings swell on fuel contact, it makes me wonder whether they might even be Neoprene!
