New member from Oklahoma needs restoration info...
« on: November 07, 2010, 07:11:38 AM »
My first post...

I live in Oklahoma and I'm looking for someone in my area who does restorations. At the moment, I own a mint condition 1975 Triumph Trident T160, and a 1977 KZ1000 that needs to be restored. And like many riders and vintage collectors, I'm looking for a Honda 750. I owned a 550 many years ago.

Any information as to who may be able to help me out in a 3 or 4 state area would be great. I live in Tulsa, but anywhere from Dallas, Wichita, Fort Smith, Kansas City, etc., would be a possibility. I've not been able to find anyone near me that can do high level restorations.

If there was someone local, I'd try to break the build up, and do some of the work myself. The farther away, I'll probably need to let them do the whole project.

Once I figure out how to post pictures, I'll throw one up of my Triumph, and I've got a sellers pic of my Kawasaki. I've been looking at the bikes here and I paged through every page of the "INSPIRATION THREAD". I'm now starting to dream about Honda's.

I've looked around the forum and it's full of information. You all have done a nice job putting this together. Thanks for the "open invite", and thanks to one of your members in good standing (Mike) for telling me about this place.

Welcome from Texas!  I recomend finding the 750 first, then get a plan together for what you want [stock restore, cafe, wild mod?] and start it yourself, that is half the fun.
Then you can find someone local to help out with whatever part of the project you need help with. [There are members near you that can point you in the right direction].

Have you seen this website? Search everyday! And look at eBay and your local paper too. Good Luck!

Thanks for the link!

I'd like to get something going on the 1000 while I look for the 750.

For me, the Triumph, Honda, and Kawasaki are the most iconic bikes to have.
The '75 Triumph has a lot of history related to that year and the American market.
The Kawasaki KZ1000 was THE bike to have when I was in high school.
And everything that can be said about Honda's from that time, has been said.

Growing up, I had a Honda trail 90, SL70, Yamaha 250, the Honda 550 Four was my first street bike. I rode it for almost a year as my only transportation. I like some of the newer bikes, but they don't do it for me like the bikes from "my time".

When I first bought the 1000, I was riding it to my dad's garage in OKC, and for a second it felt like I was in high school. I thought... wow! I own a KZ1000. It will really be nice when it's brought back to great condition. I would like to do the work myself, but I know my limitations. I need quite a bit of professional help.

I had a KZ 1000 years ago, great bike!

The Z1 900 is really the one to have, but very collectable and pricey. One day...

Hey Mike!

I'm not sure how or where to copy and paste.
This forum format is different than the watch forums I've used.
I'm guessing you've posted pics of my bike. If so, thanks!
It will take me a while to figure out all the "tricks" to posting here.

Rick,

Many of us use free online services like Flicker or Photobucket. I upload pix to Photobucket then copy and paste the URL for the IMG tag. Simple as that. You can use the little earth symbol above also and insert your hyperlink between the 2 http:// brackets. If you post/attach directly using Attach under Additional Options below you are VERY limited on the size of picture you can post (256kb). Then you have to know how to reduce the size of most pictures unless you can shoot that small.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Both bikes are very nice!

Now, what type of 750 are you looking for?
You may want to post an ad in the "Bikes Wanted" section of this forum.

Hello and welcome! I live in Tulsa also near I44 and the river. Have a pristine original 750k7. It is the one in my avatar.  Looking forward to to your posts. If you need any help with your future CB750 purchase or working on it contact me. Will help if I can. There are many knowledgable old Kaw and Honda people in and around Tulsa.

I'm looking for something just like taxiscooter has. Nice bike!

Can you send me an e-mail taxiscooter? I can let you know what I've found out.

Maybe we can compare notes.

Thanks Mike!

If my wife would let me, I'd park it in my living room.

This really is my favorite stock bike to look at. I see art.
