My 1974 MR50
« on: December 25, 2010, 10:35:53 PM »
I've looked about everywhere for the paint codes for my two Honda MR50's I'm restoring.  My cb500 is mostly complete and I needed a little project for my daughter to ride.

Does anyone know the 1974 and 1975 Tahitian Red, Daytona Orange and Metalic Silver paint codes or where I might find them for the MR50's?

thanks,
John

vintagehondapaint.com

Use the search here and put "vintagehondapaint" in and you will get four pages of threads.

Prior to 1982 Honda paint codes were for their own internal and proprietary use. It's unfortunate because those pre-'82 Honda color codes do not cross reference in the automotive paint industry standard for color matching.

Here's the 1974 & 1975 Honda MR50 color codes:

Daytona Orange: R18
Tahitian Red: R23
Silver Metallic: NH42M

Were you looking for a correct color paint source and/or taking them to a painter?

I'll be painting the tanks myself.  I'm not sure if the Honda codes translate to anything a paint shop could use?  I'll give it a try.

Thanks,

John

and no, there's nothing that translates to a code, if you mean walking into an auto body supply to get paint mixed.

I did a 77 Z50 with his stuff... and it's dead perfect.
