Well eternity just happened, then I finished polishing my valve cover!

Any recommendations on coating it? Just some aluminum polish to finish it up? I just don't want it to turn white.

Also got the frame/swingarm back from the powder coater, looks pretty good, I think he used recycled powder though. There's dots of dust here and there. Can't complain for paying 200 to sandblast/ powder it. Accidentally left the plastic bushings in there to hehe.

Not much lately, waiting to get my cylinders back from the machinist. But, got new brake lines, and sweet sidecovers from frankenstuff! also got new swingarm bushings, and installed the swingarm.

Installed the line directly into the caliper...

Got my sew on. I got some leather cheap on eBay, not too experienced with a sewing machine, but it came out alright!

Thinking about making a little half circle for the back, but feeling lazy. Thunk it looks good as it is, or should I make a back piece?

yeah, your seat looks way better than mine. And mine took like 9 hours. Did you use a pattern or anything. I need to redo mine at some point.

Seat looks great. I made 3 attempts at making my own seat than gave up and had one made. Well done.

thanks guys, yeah it took a while in test pieces, and the leather had a bit of stretched which helped a lot. Now i see what the others were talking about with the latch not matching up to this seat! anyone have any patched for that? I might walk through home depot so see if I can find some sort of latch that would work.... or velcro at last resort.

the locking latch? I cut a slit in mine and stuck a chromed piece of steel in there. Mounted the latch to that.

Nice! I need to get something like that worked out on mine. My trailer light works alright but it doesnt really match the bike. I also dont have rear turn signals because of it.

Ok it's been a while. Got a bit held up losing my gf and house! No worries, let's getthis project done!

So I buttoned up the 836 motor, got it in the frame, front end done. Got some goodies: x-ring chain, new sprockets, new wiring harness, ultimate pamco kit!

Need to get some new brass float bowl drain screws. Anyone know the thread count/ size?

I will start the satin black paint on the tank/seat/sidecovers next week. I've got some nice graphics I made up in vinyl.

I plan on riding this thing in 2 weeks, even if Its coasting down the hill.

Well im waiting for my float bowl screws and then I can try and start this thing, but Canada post has gone on strike! ugh.
Tanks/seat/side covers are primed, base coat/clear goes on tomorrow. Might just find some kind of plug for the bowls in the meantime...

Thanks! I just started the engine yesterday and have an oik leak. bummer! I think its the pucks. Going to get that fixed up asap. tank/seat sidecovers are in primer. I'll def get some pics from the spray room...

Started the engine, and I'm getting a leak between exhaust ports 3 and4. The leak is from the top most fin in the pic ( top most in the pic, not top most of engine) The headgasket seems good. I'm going to check the pucks and cam rocker bolts...

Sucks I have to pull the engine back out, but at least it's not the lower end!

hehe you'd actually be shocked at how oil proof that floor is.

okok its been almost a year, but I finished so I've been busy riding!!!

the spots in the paint you see is just rain fyi haha.

BUt, with with my F2 head on k cylinders, I'm going to get the engine back open and clear things up. Its running great, but I can get it better. So on the horizon is a new head with some porting...

Ill try to get some more pics up soon...

Just cover it with a light coat of WD40 from time to time and it will be fine.

I'd say you did an awesome job building this bike being that you knew absolutely nothing about what you were getting into. I have seen people on their fourth and fifth build that doesn't even touch this. Good job man.

got some titanium header wrap. Places online tell you that you don't need gloves with the titanium wrap- THIS IS NOT TRUE. 5 minutes in my hands were itching and there were tiny threads floating in the air. wear a mask with this stuff. THe stainless bands it comes with kinds suck too, I can't get them very tight. I may just replace them with regular stainless bands.

I also got an oil cooler. The radiator is from an 83 nighthawk and the adapter is from the 70's. I will need to fabricate a bracket for the radiator, and get some custom oil lines....

Some other goodies include a fresh mreick ported head with new valves and springs, iridium plugs, graphics(nothing ugly, old wing logo and some lines), little round bar end mirrors.

My current wish list:

hd studs
avon roadriders
rear shocks
maybe a 16 inch back wheel

and I need to make an illuminated license plate mount...
