Will the AllBalls tapered bearing kit part no. 22-1011 work on a 78K? I'm pretty sure it will but wanted clarification before I pull the trigger?

Perpetual motion has nothing to do with it at all.
It absolutely does.

If it's possible to electrolyze H2 out of H20 in a way that requires less energy than what you get back when running it through a fuel cell or internal combustion engine, then you could use that internal combustion engine to drive a generator to provide the power for the electrolysis.  Furthermore, since the exhaust of the ICE is H2O, then you can have a closed system between the exhaust of the engine and the electrolysis tank.  There's your perpetual motion machine.

Which is how you know it's bull.

What H2 is primarily is a slightly cleaner, much more complicated battery technology.

For it to be perpetual you would have to have 100% recovery of water after combustion and since the hydrogen is being "used" to power the vehicle there goes your theory..... I still stick by my statement, hydrogen, being as abundant as it is, will be used to power just about everything in the future. It may take more power to produce than what you get out of it but, if that power {solar} used to split the hydrogen is cheap then who cares.? There is also more than one way to use the hydrogen to power vehicles and while you "think" it impossible, there are a hell of a lot of far better educated guys than you still working feverishly to bring this technology forward. I suppose they are all wasting their time....? Somehow, i highly doubt it....

Just where do you think that hydrogen is going?  It's oxidizing, creating H2O.  Same if it's in a fuel cell or ICE.

Where that picture changes is in a fusion reactor, but that's not what we're talking about in the context of hydrogen-powered vehicles.

Look, i'm completely over trying to explain something your not getting, and i'm not that good at putting words to paper. Your 100% recovery  depends totally on which way you intend to use the hydrogen as a fuel.

Sorry for the crappy cell-phone pictures, but I got the big pack together with new straps and painted compression plates.

Lucky, that's Ed Fargo's bike. He actually sold me my battery charger. We've talked on the phone a few times, a really nice guy. There's a few videos on the internet of him riding with his Go Pro.

Sounds like Ed needs to check his chain alignment. How fast did he get up to in the video?

The camera mic is apparently right by his chain which is why it sounds so noisy. It may need to be aligned better too, who knows. He's clocked that bike going 101 mph, but he had to tuck pretty tight for that. He's using a more powerful motor than I am.

Edit: how fast he got going in the video I'm not sure. If you wanted to see more about his build he documented it here:

Feel free to email him if you had any specific questions. He's a good guy.

In my opinion, the entire "green" movement has really been corrupted and converted into getting more income from the populace.

I agree.  I think HONDA was on the right track with the original Insight;  I guess it was before it's time.   No wonder automaker's treat the buying public like lemmings.   Here's some interesting stats.

2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid mileage (mfr claimed): 35/40 highway.  Car & Driver magazine's observed mileage during the car's stay was 27mpg total.   In one of my car mags (hell, it may have been the print version of C&D), they reported one of the Sonata's other engine offerings, either the 2.0 turbo or the V-6, got 26 combined mpg.  Hmm, $5500 more for ONE extra mpg?   I couldn't find stats for just over how many miles they had each version, but rest assured those guys don't baby the cars they test.

I think it's just a slap in the face really that they offer a product like that and have the gall to give it such a mpg rating when they know in real world driving it will perform as C&D has observed.   Given it's Hyundai, who's fighting and scratching for every little inch they can these days, I can see why.

I recently read an editorial piece likening Hyundai to the new Honda.  Hyundai is pioneering, while Honda is sitting back.  Hyundai is expanding it's product offering and pushing the envelope while Honda is resting on it's laurels.  I call BS, and don't be surprised if Honda pulls back funding for that Nismo robot and the Honda Jet, then introduces a perfectly reliable and cheap hydrogen car first.  Or maybe one that runs on farts.  Terry would get 100mpg for sure.

Sorry for the distraction Booty, but this is a great topic.

Terry would get 100mpg for sure.

You've obviously been talking to my wife mate? But seriously, manufacturers fuel mileage/HP/top speed claims (regardless of manufacturer, Honda's no better than the rest of them) should be taken with a grain of salt.

I've seen gas mileage figures from Ford and Hyundai that better Prius' 'assisted' figures, which would excite some prospective buyers if they didn't know that the Prius is a fat gutless gas guzzler that needs a second motor to make it go as good as a "normal" car. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)

The insight has really great aerodynamics going for it. I think that it still has the lowest drag coefficient of any car currently in production. A guy named John Wayland is currently in the process of using one to build a 350 mile per charge car using lithium pouch cells, 71.5kwh (about 2 gallons of gas worth).

More on that here.

I finished my small pack today and had my better camera on hand to snap some pictures. I originally intended to do a small pack of 3 underneath the big pack, and a pack of 3 where the carbs once were. Instead I am opting to pare it down to 2 packs, the big pack of 18 and a smaller pack of 6 where the carbs were. Makes it easier to wire and I think it looks better.

That would be "plasma boy". He earned the nickname after he dropped a brass battery connector onto a 300V+ battery string, and the arc resulted in a plasma discharge, a sort of ball lightening, from John's eloquent description of the event.

Hey guys I'm in the middle of replacing my fork seals and I'm battling the 6mm hex bolt at the bottom of the leg that holds the inner tube in place. I got it loose, but it's just spinning and won't actually come out. Any idea what's going on here?

Sometimes fork spring pressure will get it loose.
There is a special tool with a hex head that reaches down into the fork and engages a hex socket.
But, the easiest is to use an air impact tool to get that bolt out.

I use a broom handle with a "pad" of duct tape on the end.  Shove that down the fork to hold the internals still.

Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Another approach is to apply a large force extending the fork.  So if you can safely clamp one end to a workbench and have a buddy pull hard on the fork while you hit that bolt with an impact you can often get it out that way.

Hey, anybody out there with a CB750, if you have a chance could you measure the width of your motor both at it's widest point and the width of the cylinders (including fins)? I'm sizing it up for a fairing and don't have a motor to reference. Otherwise, if there is a dimensioned drawing of the motor out there that I could reference that would be good too.

Thanks again everybody.

Thanks friend! Looks like my fairing will fit just fine. The pack is 16.25" at it's widest point, so I'm going to give Dutch and Airtech a call and get things rolling.
