I got a box of parts in the other day, and look what was used for packing:
Actually runs --> 1975 CB550-K1
Projects ---> Crusty old boat

A box full of shredded bank checks.  And he didn't use a very good shredder either, I could still read quite a bit.

Yeah, but could you actually put one back together?  Most likely not, but if you could it would be pretty funny to do it and then mail the reconstructed check back to the seller as a not-so-subtle hint. ;D

I've used shredded paper to pack things, but usually the packages are head to friends or family, not ebay customers.

A german guy sent me a CB350 tranny inside a set of used socks... They were worn out, but fortunately they were clean. The box packing were also used socks.

Let's see...in the past 6 years I almost always use 2nd hand stuff, so: old sweaters for fairings and luggage, 2nd/3d use of foam peanuts, washed and disinfected for sure meat foam packets, old newpapers from the 1930's, the kids old socks etc etc.

Why not, right?

I thought about it, but believe me, even when they were clean I felt bad about touching a stranger's worn out socks...
