Has anybody bought a "Dual Saw" yet?
« on: August 25, 2012, 11:07:59 PM »
It's a week out from Fathers Day here in Oz and I've seen a couple of adverts for electric saws with two contra-rotating blades and I'm thinking of getting myself one,

They seem to make a nice clean virtually burr-free cut, and with the contra rotating blades, they don't kick back like a regular saw, so might be good for all sorts of motorcycle projects, but I just wondered if anyone here has any first-hand experience?

I did some You-Tubeing and found lots of hits, if you haven't seen one of these saws yet, lots of companies make them, and they don't look particularly expensive either. Cheers, Terry. ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I think bunnings have a copy of that, they look like a good idea, my old man has one of the renovators, made by the same mob.  He says it's good but only for the home handyman, no good for a tradie.

My Dad got me one last year. The saw worked OK, but the blased were junk. They were for metal, and after cutting a total of about 12 inches of 1/8 inch thick steel, they were done. I haven't gone looking for new blades for it yet either since I have a rotozip with cutting discs, and a high speed pneumatic cutoff wheel to use.

Ha ha, I didn't know what a rotozip was when I read onepieceatatime's post, but I've since realised that I bought an "Aldi" version of one several months ago, but haven't used it yet.

While it's probably OK for cutting holes in stuff, I still think the Dual Saw would be a good addition to the Tardis' tool inventory, and after more research I see that there are many variants out there, including some real heavy duty contra-rotating blade models.

Jerry, I'm an ex-army drill sergeant, and no-one in my family has ever bought me a tie.............. ;D
