Gaiters for 33mm forks on a CB400f
« on: April 29, 2011, 08:42:09 AM »
I'm interested in putting fork gaiters on my cb400f instead of the standard wipers. I doubt there's anything made specifically for this application, but maybe someone knows if some of the options out there woul do the trick.

I've seen the CL350 gaiters -- not sure what size forks the CLs had and/or if the top of the fork lower has the right groove to make these "click" on and look like they could be stock. (could probably find a better price for these)

There's also a guy on ebay selling fork gaiters that he says will fit on virtually any sohc4 bike, but I worry that if they'd fit on the bigger forks of a 750, that they'd be kind of slack on the little 400f forks.

Then you've got the truly universal ones

Any help/ideas/experiences appreciated.

The ones from Dime City will work for ya, though you may have to zip tie the top to keep it flush against the bottom triple.

i put gaiters on a 400 a few years ago.  got them from Mike's XS.  Use the stock wipers on top of the gaiters and no need for zip ties, and it keeps everything nice an clean.
Not sure if this picture is any help.

Interesting -- so the stock wiper is up at the top, and the bottom of the gaiter is "snaped" on to the fork lower? Looks slick -- I may go that route.

I have them on my 350F - although the forks needed to be machined for them to fit.

I can make adaptors to  hold the top to fork, if you use stock  750/500 gaiters.. not sure if the bottom fots though.

I have some on my 400f, they fit perfectly into the grooves and machined area of the lower fork, always wondered where they came from. You can see them in my profile picture or slightly larger in my gallery pics.

I ordered some for a stock CL350. My reasoning: if they work, great. If they don't, I can put them on my CL350 when I go pick it up later from my father-in-law's house this summer. I also like the rounded "accordions" versus the sharper v-shaped ones in some of the options. I'll report back when I get them on.
