Well I've had my bike for awhile now and i guess I need to start an official thread for the build.
I now have a direction, or perhaps a moldable vision for the bike.

But she needs a name!

Not sure the really qualifies as a build as m just kinda changing things as they come to me.
It ran when I got her, so its hard to tear her down when she is just so damn much fun to ride!

I really like the look of naked bikes, and super simple stripped down cafes so....

First order of business was getting those fenders off and some smaller signals!
The rear fender took a bit longer as i needed to fashion a rear brake mount

James... I'd name it James.  Definitely James.  Or, maybe Stan.  Yeah, I kinda like Stan too.

I call my red 350F "the red bike".  Simple and effective, although incredibly boring.  I also call it the leaky piece of @#$@, but only around people I know and love.

Then I got rid of the rear fender... and made a brake light / license plate mount

I still wanted to strip it down more...
so i made a custom mount for the tach and ditched the speedometer

Its hard to made parts properly when you live in a 800 sq ft condo with your wife and a 95 lb dog

Then the real fun. Someone stole my bike from the gated parking lot on March 10th 2009.
Got it back April 8th 2009 from an impound yard. Someone just ditched it on the side of the road

Moved a month ago so the bike is back burner big time.
However I now have a garage and a proper place to store and work on the bike!!!!

Put on cafe bars, which are nearly finished tonight.
Found the side covers on ebay in pretty good condition for the price.
I still need to sort out a bunch of things, and paint everything to match.



To Do
Tank
   The tank is pretty well f'ed so i might just find a new one, or have someone put the knee dents in and smooth out all the other dings.
Seat
   I'm working on a custom seat pan from the original. Basically just 6 inches shorter.
Drill the front rotor
New Exhaust
Rear Sets

Also needs a tune up bad, valves, oil, plugs, plug wires, etc It runs just not making the nicest noises

Bikes need to have female names. They can be troublesome, and cost you money when you least expect it. They bring you to the highest high, or the lowest of lows. I've always referred to bikes in the female sense. I don't know, that's just me. Good luck with your naming whatever you choose.

My 350f is called Delia.  She pops tires on me, pisses gas, sounds like a pickup truck... so I flog her rotten on the road from time to time.  We get along in the end.

landed on Wendy.... long story

So a few steps forward and about 30 steps back....
Got a new drilled rotor and fitted it to the wheel.


Decided to pull the forks and drain the oil....
guess what? top triple was cracked!

Got a new/used tripple from a 400f and cut off the brake hose mount on the lower, sanded and painted.
Installed to find the top set of threads on the steer tube were FUBAR....
My neighbor who is a diesel mechanic helped me file them out and retapped...phew

stripped the tank to bare metal and painted it back to a flat black....



petcock was broken leaving me with no reserve
members here helped me figure out how to replace the pipe, that was a fun weekend

The rusted, pitted uppers were getting to be a real eye sore so I traded out the fork legs for a 360T
Better internals and a direct swap other wise

Cleaned them up, changed the fork oil, and painted the legs black

Glad to see it's coming back together. Mine is getting ready for a makeover too, once I'm done with the other three! 

I've plenty of parts and a spare engine if you need any parts.

Wanted a more slimline seat. But wanted to keep the underseat storage and stock seat mounts.
Cut the stock seat pan down making it 6 inches shorter.
It now extends just past the frame rails.
Shaved the seatfoam to have a bit more of a rounded shape.
Had a local uphostery guy redo the cover in marine vinal.

Repainted side covers flat black, emblems gloss black. nice simple contrast

Flat black is a pain in the arse to clean, may go to a satin instead.

Painted the exhaust black, waiting for new tires, waiting a good tune up with a local forum member.

I really don't mean to be a hater and don't mean you any disrepect, but I love the relatively pristine stock 350F in the "before" picture and I feel like the "after" picture looks like a hacked up spray bombed beater.
