Howdy everybody!!!!!

The Metro Atlanta team met Sunday (both of us :()...btw...you shoulda seen the Vette that trav-i was driving.  I think he might deal crack on the side......hehe...and we are good to go with the following:

Leave Saturday 03-12-11 from Bluezboys house in Stone Mountain GA. and head south via the route he posted earlier.  Would love to have anybody that wants to join us....Ray, that means you..or meet up along the way.  We can fine tune that as we get closer.

We will be in Savannah that afternoon / evening looking to hook up with Madmanmotors and Bender01...take some pics and head over to Bender01's to camp (weather permitting).

From there I'll consider IT to be in good hands and we will ride as much of the trip as we can.  If we go to Charleston and then to Columbia...that's cool.  Y'all plot out what works best and involves the most SOHC,ers and we will "be along for the ride".  There is even a thought that we might stay over Sunday night and ride home Monday...yet to be determined.

I still think there are a bunch of Metro Atlanta guys that we have not heard from.  Jump on in here y'all....We should have a dozen or more bikes pulling out Saturday morning....wouldn't that sound cool ???

Bender.....I guess it is up to us now.

If I could camp out in your back yard also it would be greatly appreciated. The only worry is that I have to figure out how to pack all this stuff on my bike...an March nights are still going to be cold. I may wimp out and get a hotel.

What are you thinking for a route from Bluffton to Columbia? If everyone is up for going through Charleston that is fine with me. The route I figured from Bluffton to Beaufort to Columbia was about 4.5 hours with no stops.  I think we are the only two SC riders as of now.

Check out google maps guys to see these:

Here's the route times from Savannah to Bluffton - 45 minutes, I have friends in Hilton Head that I may crash with,I'm sure my old back will not be in the mood for sleeping on the ground after riding all day, but who knows.
From Bluffton to Charleston - 2 hours on US 17
Charleston to Columbia on I-26, 1hr.,54 minutes or on US 178 - 2.5 hrs
From Columbia to Stone Mountain via US 378, about 5 hrs. or on I-20, 3.5. I've done the ride in a car more than I care to remember and wouldn't be a bad ride to do on a bike if you're trying to beat the sun was setting. I think these times they post are based on driving at 55 MPH, but who in the hell drives that speed with a bike like ours between their legs?!
Looking at these times, I doubt that I will be to do it all since I have to be back Sunday night to drive my bus  Monday morning. I'd better pack an extra butt, looks like I will need it. It's going to be fun no matter what! Vern

Cbowers.,
Lets go to Beaufort and take 21 to Columbia. Should be a fine ride! All are welcome to the backyard. HHI is another 10 mins from my house. there is a Hampton inn in Okatie thats on the way to beaufort from Savannah with the Okatie Ale house in walking distance. Holiday Inn express has restaurants walking distance too.Its in Bluffton. Charleston guys can meet us North of Bft on 21?
i recomend these places as you can walk to food and drink. The holiday inn has Target and Food Lion also in walking distance.

Bender,

Hwy 21 sounds good, I may come up with a way to keep us out of orangeburg though. I will have to look up the route I came up with when I get home but it was about 4.5 hours.

I guess I'm going to run it up to Nikkisixx in Charlotte on the following Thursday. Are there any other riders or places it needs to go through?

May look into the holiday inn that way I'll be close but wont have to pack a tent and sleeping bag. Heat and a shower don't sound bad either! I'm not the nomad I used to be.

Bluezboy,

Can you list off some of the towns you will be traveling trough. I am planning on leaving Saturday morning and metting up with y'all along the way, I will be headed directly south from Columbia,SC. That is unless I get really motivated and leave Friday evening to met up with team GA Saturday morning.

Hey guys, Im still trying to make sure my work will fit in with the dates of the relay ride. I live right outside of Greensboro, NC just off Hwy 421 S. Forest Oaks Country Club where they played the golf tourament for many years is across the Hwy from me. Nikkisixx ask me if I could meet up with you on the parkway somewhere on the weekend of Mar 27th. Its about hour and a half ride to the parkway for me. I would like to ride with all you sohc folks and check out everyones bike. Any ideas where I could catch up with ya'll if the parkway thing doesn't work out.

This plan works for me and won't  have to beg for time off of work. I'll be staying with friends on Hilton Head that night, sorry to abandon you guys. They may be be able to put another rider or two, I'll ask. Either way, I'll meet with everyone back in Bluffton Google says about  4 hours to Columbia, but like I said before, they're assuming we'll be going 55! I can't spend too much time in Columbia before I'll have to hit the road,  I may take 20 to Augusta at least to make up some time, depends on who's still with me and how late it is before we leave. Cbowers, our route is so far west of you that you may just want to meet us in Savannah, unless you just feel like riding that far to meet us. we pass through Statesboro, Ga on the way.

So far the route sounds good to me.  Since I don't know the area I'm just gonna leave it up to everyone else and just ride a long.  I'm really looking foward to this ride and getting to meet everyone.

Im uncertian what the route is through NC. I know that Nikkisixx is planning on being at Rockingham on the weekend of the 19th. uncertain where they go from there. originally the plan was to ride the complete length of the parkway not sure if that is still the plan.

I am so confused can someone put a calendar on where the group will be each night so I can join up and break off at the right time?  I was going to ride with the guys from Columbia to the Rock to start with. If that helps.

Any handoff dates to Leg#2 yet?  How many days do y'all think it will take to get IT to KY?

Awesome Silver!!  If I'm not pushing my luck too much, what is the date for the handoff to Leg 3?

As you can prolly tell, I'm trying to build a string of handoff dates through each of the legs so that I know when Team New England is ready to hand off to Team East Canada.  Since I have a good idea how long East Canada will take, I'll know when to head to Detroit to meet the up with the Canucks.  I also have a pretty good idea how long the Michigan leg will take, so I can then tell Team Wisconsin when to meet me at the boarder in Iron Mountain.  From there, Dennis can estimate his handoff date and yada yada yada until we're done!

Team ATL SOHC will arrive in Savannah on Saturday, March 12 sometime around 4, depending how many times we stop for photos, food and gas.  We'll snap a few photos of the handoff and buzz around downtown before we head up to Bluffton/Hilton Head, SC before dark and we'll spend the night there. We plan on rolling out of there Sunday morning early to Columbia, more photos and a quick stretch before we have to head back to ATL.

Thanks Chad!  That calander about sums up everything perfectly.  I can't wait to find out what IT is gonna be.  Guess I need to get my hind end in gear and finish my F bike or else I gotta take the chop again.  Not that the chop isn't fun and all, just not comfy on the long rides. :D

We cannot do anything with Barber's the weekend of April 9th, because of the Indy Car race.  I'm going to schedule with them for Sat, April 16th.  We will need to be there by noon.  As soon as Jeff lets me know what all we can do there, I'll pass that on.  Sure would be cool to have a good group there.

Glad your on board Rocker.   Vern aka Bluezboy posted his address earlier.  If we don't find a reason to get together beforehand....(beer and good weather are two that come to mind)...we will be there Sat. the 12th.

This is also an official appeal to Fabricator to come out of hiding ;D ;D

And......I think Ray/ Spanner1 should come on down and ride with us
