You guys have a rough idea when the handoff to Mid Atlantic is going to be?

Hey, Bobby, we're still thinking Ohio we handing off to 05c50 (paul) on the 20th at Sharon, PA  as per plan. So far, schedule and handoff from Chicago to Cincinnati is still unsettled, but there are a couple "make up" days built in so that will help. Really hoping the rain will go away for a few days. Might as well have gill slits around here these days.

And in the meantime you got the word from Paul.

OK, we have a few days built in so be safe and here we go.

But we were boys, and boys will be boys, and so they will. To us, everything was dangerous, but what of that? Had we not been made to live forever?

Whoa! I think the plan was to be in Sharon on Saturday the 21st! The schedule shows Cleveland on the 20th. I can make the 20th in Sharon work, but I'd rather do the 21st.

I'll be riding from Chicago to Indy and then Cincinnati. I'm not sure beyond that. I have to be back in Chicago Wednesday evening because I have meetings I can't miss Thursday.

The current schedule seems to show a couple days in Indy. Personally I plan to spend just one day in Indy as I have a friend that recently relocated to Cinci and I would like to spend a couple days there rather than Indy.

Hey Bankerdanny.  Looking forward to welcoming you in Indy!

The days were built in to the schedule for some flexibility.  If you carry G from Chicago to Indy and arrive here early enough in the day (whatever day that may be), I doubt anyone here will mind continuing on to Cincy same day to hand off.

Not sure if you read back a page or two....but we have the Rocker's Reunion here Saturday afternoon/evening.  If the pace of the ride schedule would happen to pick up and you were able to get here for that and hang out for an evening, how cool would that be?  Vintage bikes galore!

...If not, we know G travels at his own pace and will get here when he gets here.  We will wait patiently for word of when you plan to arrive and go from there.   ;)

Indy,

Yes I saw that. The Chicago Rockers Reunion was last Saturday. I tried to get there, but that was the first day I had the bike running and I didn't make it there until about 20 minutes after it officially ended.

I'm not sure what the plan is for here in Chicago on the 14th. I see yours runs until 10. Ours ended at 5 for some reason. Possibly because there is a much larger event in June.

Thanks, IndyFour. I'm feeling a lot more reassured now. Also heard from Raef who is ready to go. As for a hand-off point, still time to figure that out. For those of you coming down, you planning on making it a round trip same day? Leave Indy in morning, get back in afternoon? If this will be on Sunday, I'd be happy to host a get together at my place. It's easy to get to from where you are coming. We could have lunch or something. I'm near I-75 and Ronald Regan Highway interchange. I'll PM you with a phone number. Looking forward to meeting you all.

Remember folks, depending on the weather and breakdowns and unforseen circumstances....all could change. Weather the week of the 16th is pretty iffy to say the least. Lot's of rain and thunderstorms predicted for Chicago, Indianapolis, Cincinnatti, Toledo. Not sure what is predicted for Cleveland or Sharon on the 21st. Things may get delayed some.

I have spoken to my Team and while we will be ready on time, your safety is first and foremost. We have time built in with Team New England. Please don;t put yourselves at unnecessary risk.

Yes, the weather may present some challenges but I'm trying to be optimistic. Over the past couple days mid-next week forecast has been improving some. I'm checking with some friends about borrowing rain gear to hedge. I'm primarily a fair weather biker and don't want to head out into a storm, but once on the road, if some showers come up I intend to push through. Been reading up on safe riding on wet roads.

A little rain is not a terrible thing. I rode the Tail of the Dragon on my Magna for the first time in a rain storm. It slowed me down but didn't stop me. Saying that, I will be riding the 750K4 on this trip, and that presents a slightly different outlook. I don't normally ride it in foul weather and it doesn't make for a fun ride anyway....& this is supposed to be FUN and SAFE above all else. If GZ has to do a layover, then so be it. Hate to have someone go down and tear up their ride and get hurt. As the dates get closer, the forecast may change, and we'll just have to play it by ear.

I've gotten poured on a couple of times. It sucks. but the only time I was ever scared was when I got caught in very heavy fog on a two lane between Rockford, IL and Galena. I couldn't see more than about 20 feet in front of me on a modestly curvy road that goes through the hilliest part of IL (several 10% grades). I had to stop twice to wipe down my face shield. And that bike had a MUCH brighter tail light and headlight. Fortunately it only lasted for a few miles, I know the route well, and I was able to follow a semi and use his tail lights as reference points.

I'm working on borrowing a rain shell from a buddy (it says Harley Davidson, but hey, it's free) and I already have rain pants, waterproof boots and Gore-tex crab claw style glove covers that I use for bicyling. So rain or shine I will be good to go.

My rain gear is hd as well. Got it as a gift.  Its nice because it stores inside the hood. Nice and compact. If you don't have a full face helmet bring something to put on your face. Rain hurts

So is the handoff still scheduled for St. Charles, IL?  At a place called Portillos?  Around late lunch?  Just trying to dial in the schedule.  Starting to get serious about cleaning up the bike, syncing carbs etc.  Do we know exactly how many CHI riders are taking part?
