Hello everyone. I Finally got the 1978 CB550K that started the whole motorcycle craze for me. 7 years ago my freind bought this bike for 1500. He rode the heck out of it, and unfortunately crashed it a few times. During his ownership period I learned how to ride it. I was hooked on bikes eversince. Well my buddy is having his second child, and with his new place (and a little pressure from the wife) he just doesn't have "space
" for the CB. He offered it to me, and I picked it up from his garage the next day. I love this bike more than he does. ANYWAYS.... it sat for over a year, indoors. I started by pulling the carbs and cleaning the heck out of them. Mostly soaked em and then blasted the parts with carb cleaner. reassembled them, poured gas in the tank, and fired it up. Oh yeah, it does have a new battery. After several attempts, it finally started and ran, with the choke, but after the rpms went down, it died. So then i tried to start it with no choke....nothing. Basically, it will idle with the choke engaged, but as soon as I give it gas, or release the choke, it dies. I plan on replacing the plugs cause they are horrible, and the oil as well. I have no manual and or no idea where to buy or find an oil filter. I know this was a long read, but I promise to leave em short from now on....
