You can get a gasket kit from this guy on ebay: http://stores.ebay.com/MotorCycle-Solutions it includes the float bowl gasket and the various o-rings for the bowl drain screw, air screw and the aluminum fuel filler connector  tubes that run between the carbs.

I purchased a set for the carbs on my '77.

My bike only had ~7k miles on it, si I did't feel the need to replace the jets and float valve. I just soaked everything in carb dip and blew them out with compressed air.

Full rebuild kits do turn up now and then, but they are definitely harder to come by than the '76 and earlier kits.

Have you tried your local Honda dealer...........more money, correct fit, just the rubber bits...
1978 cb 550k......stock,my first re-build

Loud pipes suck.......

If you buy something.........pay for it !
If you sell something .......ship it !
If you say you are going to do something......do it !
If you have a question about something......ask it !
When the seller answers ........let him know whether you still want it or not !
If you receive something .....let the seller know you got it !
If you get something and are happy/un happy with it .....let the giver/seller know !
If you have any kind of issue,shipping/receiving/quality/price/shipping charges etc !

Apart from terrorist attacks (people/corrosion, etc.), it's only the rubber bits that need replacing.
I got this number from Western hills Honda ( I used the 77 CB550K for the search.  But, the rubber kit is same for 78, too.)

GASKET SET
16010-393-305 (replaces 16010-404-004)   004   $15.58

Then I put the number into google and looked at the first hit:

2nd Hit Probably european:

A motorcycle is NOT like a car.

When you buy a rebuild kit for a car carburator you get all the parts you need.

On motorcycles you can just replace the float needles (80% of the rebuild).
Then clean the jets, Especially the idle jet. and set the float level.
Do not replace the float bowl gasket unless it is broken or leaking which is very seldom.

Make sure the needles in the slides are all in the same position.
Adjust the mixture.
Adjust the idle.

Thats it.
