aftermarket fork ears?
« on: January 25, 2011, 10:30:43 AM »
Hoping you might have some suggestions for me.  Got a '78 750k and I'm looking for some alternatives to the crappy $15 Emgo fork ears on my bike now.  What else are you guys running?

I got these from dime city cycles. solid aluminum, nice quality. I powdercoated them black and they look awesome.

I think it is Joker Machine that makes some pretty cool machined headlight ears. Not sure it is the style or price point you are after but sure are pretty.

I got those same ones from Mike's XS for my 77 750K. They look great. Joker Machine also carries the spacer to mount your fork boots when you ditch the stock headlight ears.

you can also get fork boots that "mount" directly against the fork tube on the top, much cheaper than jokers adapter.

+1 on Mikes XS. They are very solid. They do stick out a shade more than my og CB750 ears, but only to the obsessive eye. . .

Check out page two of my 550 build.
There is a really easy custom headlight bracket idea so you can make your own.

Google image searches are good.  I just searched on 35mm headlight bracket and found some decent ones.  Motolanna.com has some nice units too.

Jealous! Those things are gorgeous. Been waiting on the "new design" for a while.

I was going to buy the GB 500 copies but decided to make my own.
Hell of a lot cheaper than $215.00

I'm putting pre 97 Suzuki Katana forks (41mm) into 1974 CB360 and using 1979 Yamaha XS650 headlight. (and unknown year CB350 drum brake I modified a bit with 74 XS650 rear rim)  ;D

Bit of cutting and filing and bored a few holes.
Use a Sharpie to rough out idea

I guess I should find the project thread I started and update things (even though this is 3rd bike I've started since starting thread)  ::)
