I am really happy with this color.  It is hard to tell from the pictures but it has a LOT of depth, a lot of effect, and almost like a reddish bronze color.  Both the red and the pearl are 2011 Chrysler colors.

I am going to take pictures of it with a real camera tomorrow.

That red frame colour is great!

Can you post the Chrysler colour details for that red?

Well done.

For some reason I thought it was 'inferno blaze red effect', I think that is what is says in my paint chip book.

Anyone have recommendations for chromers?

Yes I do.

You should give up chroming as the petrol fumes will destroy your brain, find a friendlier drug!

And the fuel cap looks great.

And thanks for the colour brand, I have bookmarked it and I will look at using it on my CB450 frame.

Cool.  It really looks great in the sun light.  It has a lot of depth, a lot of metal, and some cool gold/orange hues.

Can someone confirm my sanity here.  Piston arrows point towards the exhaust side...  the exhaust valve is the smaller valve...  so shouldnt the arrow on the piston point towards the small valve pocket?

Well, it doesnt.

Cylinders are on.  Much more annoying of a process than I thought.  The top 2 rings went on easy.  The three piece oil ring section was a huge pain...  I think I got everything on safely, I was sure to get rings in the chamfer before I tried to push on anything.

I assume if an oil rail got knocked out of its groove at some point then I would certainly know it, right?

I really want to check the valve to piston clearance at this point.  Do I have to torque down the head to check that, or is the head gasket compression a known quantity such that I can put everything on loose and then subtract the head gasket compression from the valve clearance.

The current problem is two fold.  I need a way to cover teh section of the front shocks between the twipple trees AND a way to 'terminate' the end of the litter rubber booty thingy.

The factory headlight ears used to do both jobs.

I was going to just use some chrome tubing to cover the shocks up, but I forgot about needing to hold the told of the rubber booties.

Sweet.

The frame colour is great, the rear hoop is very neat and well blended, the black rims work well, but I would check the spring settings on those rear shocks!

(I make me laugh)

In case anyone is interested, my 'shocks' in that image are set at 13.5".

I think I am going to go with 14" progressives (12-1205B).  The bottom out length on those is 10.15", which I think should give safe clearance to the bottom of the seat.  I forgot to measure that last week.  THe only problem is that the 12-1205B is all black, I dont think I want that.

Keep in mind that you probably want to aim for about 30mm of static sag, which would mean that if you use the 14" shocks, the rear with you on it would be slightly lower than how it sits with the struts in place now.

FWIW, I'm not a shill for Race Tech - I've just got a thing for good suspension and the RTCE's are the most cost-effective mod for these old damping rod front ends.

Gotcha.  Well I think I am stuck at 14" anyway.  I dont really know of anyone using longer struts than that, I dont know if I would be comforatble going higher than that.

At least 14" would look good while I wasnt on the bike.

Of course, the front should have the same amount of sag, so the attitude of the bike wouldn't change with you on it.

Bike is looking great, love that frame color.

Thanks.

I think I finally have to put the motor in now.  I have really enjoyed being able to work on the bike while it is on a folding table.  That wont work anymore.

The progressive 1205 (14") is $240 at dynoman with chrome springs.  I think I will do that.

And yes, eye-to-clevis, unlike the picture:
