SO, I have a '71 500 and rebuilt the carbs and put new piston rings, installed a DYNA S and fired it up and it runs but it will not idle without giving it gas and if I open the choke, it will not run at all. The ignition timing is right on and it starts up with 1 kick with the choke on but will not idle for more then 15 secs. AND, I purchase a '75 550 with better rims as a parts bike and I tried to put the rear rim on the 500 frame BUT it wont fit damn it! I put the chain on the sproket but I cant get the tentioner up over the rear block of the swing arm. WTF! Some obvious input would be greatly appreciated. Im new to the vintage bike scene but Im not going to give up because this bike isnt cooperating!!!!

500 and 550 sprokets are different so chain length is different mate, as to idling problems its usually a set up problem or a still blocked pilot jet IF the induction and exhaust are standard---if modified all bets are off
