Dual disk Conversion
« on: February 21, 2011, 03:55:08 PM »
I know there are a lot of threads on this but I have a simple question.

I have completed everything for the dual disk setup on my 1974 CB750. I thought I had this licked but sometime gremlins come to get you.

The bolt that is used to attach both lower hoses to the brake light switch. This bolt would before the double banjo connection at the switch. I have one and it does not work. Yes all of the holes are clear and yes the holes line up in the center of each banjo fitting. I think the problem is there is not relief cut into the bolt.

See picture. The bottom bolt in the stock bolt for a single banjo. The top bolt is off a GL1000 I think.

If there is no picture let me know how to add one. Thanks

Double banjo bolts are available from places, Z1enterprises.com I think and others. <$15. Also I cheaped out on my second conversion and thinned the banjo at the end of each line by rubbing them on a flat file. Enough that they would both fit on a single bolt.

I think the problem is with the clearance between the bolt shoulder where the holes are and the inside of the banjo fitting. I think that although the bolt slides freely the clearance is to tight for the brake fluid to move around and pass into the hose.

With double banjo bolts you need to match the bolts to the banjo.  The thickness of the banjo fitting can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.  The Goodridge banjos are slightly thinner than the factory banjos.  With a single banjo setup it's not a problem, but with double banjos it is important to mak sure the holes in the banjo bolt align with the banjo.

Is that a home-made banjo bolt?? If so, did you also drill a hole through the center all the way through both cross holes?
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

Yes both bolts are factory and have both vertical and horizontal holes.  Thanks for the web site this gave me an idea, unfortunately I have not had a lathe for 30 years so the next best thing was my drill press.

See the two photos below. Is this a hack way to do this ? Yes but it works.
