turn signal squeaker
« on: April 01, 2006, 12:10:57 PM »
Hello,

My '78 750f came with an audio signal installed which squeaked when turn signals were engaged. I took it off together with a Vetter fairing last year. Now I want to put it back. I wrote down the wiring but I can  not recall where it was attached to the bike.

If someone has the same thing on their bike could you please post or e-mail me the picture to  4serge@gmail.com ?

It seems to be original item since the wires are color-coded the same way, though there is no part number on the housing and I did not find it in the shop manual.

Thanks a lot!
Serge

On my 550 it is located inside the left headlight ear in a square hole. The buzzer had a square rubber knob that pushes inside the square hole on the headlight ear. Hope that helps.

Same here, left fork, square hole.  Mine didn't come with it, so I bought one. Thankfully I wired it in and tried it before I fought inserting it into the square holder, because it is horrible (my opinion) and came right out.  I have installed LED's in the turn indicator light, and they are really bright.  I'm sticking with a bright indicator light instead of the buzzer.  On the 550 it's got two wires: black & blue/brown.  They tie into the mess of wires inside the headlight bucket.

One my 76 750F it is mounted on the right down tube of the frame (as you sit on the bike). It's right oin the same area as that wire box and the horn.

Hope this helps.

Yep, That's where it goes on your '78 750, Serge. If it annoys you in the future, it is easy enough to disconnect the wiring behind the headlight while leaving the "squeaker" installed for future use.

Lovely riding weather,eh? Are ya underwater yet? I've given up on the motorcycle project and am building an Ark :D :D :D

Hi Sean, Yeah, my jeans are soaked wet right now. ;)  and I am just starting with my projects ;). It is a year I ride this bike almost every day so I guess I should pay back a little ;). It starts going through half a quater a week ;) I am going to change head gasket this weekend and see how top end looks like.. So, I will post some more questions ;). cheers, - Sergey
