They just press on, as far as I know.

Mine were a PIA to get off. It took 2 spoons to pry it off. But once I got it off the pin, it just pressed back on. I thought that it needed to go farther than it actually did. Press the needle on and then double check that its secure. If so, you should be good to go.

Mine were hard to get back on as well.  Pressing them didn't work.  I placed the needle on the peg, laid a small piece of soft suede leather over the center of it (to act as a buffer of sorts) and then took the rubber handle of a screw driver and ever so gently tapped on it until it went on.  Several VERY SMALL taps... don't wail on it!

Oh yeah, make sure when you tap on it, be sure you're tapping it square on the "head."

That would freak me out to hit it with anything, but if you have done it, who am I to argue. ;)

Yeah... that's why I kept trying to stress the word "tap" (combined with the words "gently" and "small").  ;)

When pressing on it doesn't work, you have to resort to other means.  To me, it seemed like I would have been more likely to bend the peg with a lot of constant pressure rather than a few sharp, soft love TAPS ;D from a soft object.
