« on: June 04, 2011, 01:06:47 PM »
Should one lube new Honda throttle cables?

If yes, what kind of lube? Graphite?

Thx

I wouldn't think that you would need to lube new cables, but I don't believe that it would hurt.

I invested in a proper cable lube system. They aren't that expensive and make the job MUCH easier.

Genuine Honda cables are tefloncoated and do not need to be lubed. They don't like petroleumbased lubes. They do hurt.

If they are teflon coated a little silicon spray should be OK.....Also +1 on the cable lube thingy, they are excellent.....

I used this EZ glider system on my cb500. Worked great with no need to remove or slacken the cables.

Yes, but his title says NOS, if that's the case they are unlikely to be Teflon coated. I would have to check my bottle, but I believe that my cable lube is not petroleum based.
