Needing World Traveling CB in Western Europe around 9/2013
« on: February 12, 2013, 02:54:43 PM »
Hey guys I know this might be a long shot, but....

I'm an American, and about 2 years ago I traveled all over Europe; couchsurfing, taking trains, buses, and planes. I instantly fell in love with the place. I promised myself that I would one day return and travel through the countries via motorcycle. When I was there I had dreams of riding my cafe racer up and down the twisty countryside of Italy.

I just finished my undergrad, and I'm applying to medical school this summer. After that I have a year until I would be going to medical school. So I will be traveling to Spain in the summer of 2013; running with the bulls in Pamplona in July, and doing the Camino de Santiago in August. Starting in late August/September of 2013 I will begin traveling all over Europe.

And so I need your help to realize my dream! I'm looking for a reliable cheap CB in western Europe to purchase around the beginning of September 2013. I'm a broke college student so it would be awesome to find someone who has as much love for the bikes as I do, and if possibly would be open to the idea of me selling it back to them at the end of my trip.

I have a 1975 CB 550 and know the bikes fairly well. Ideally I would buy a bike in Spain or close to there and ride it around Europe through France, Italy, Greece then sell it before returning to America.

The most far fetched idea I have is to ride all the way to India (around 10,000 miles) but I don't know if that would be logistically possible.

Please let me know if you or anyone you know has a bike!

Thanks a ton
-Michael Campbell

Great idea on riding around Europe and having done it myself on a CB750K4 I can definitely say its worth it ;)

Passo del Stelvio, Italian Alps

Glossglockner, Austria

As for riding to India it is so doable from Europe - just ask Gordon May who rode his Enfield there:

Sounds fantastic. I've been to Europe three times and am planning another.

Are you dead set on doing it on a CB?  Sounds cool, but a late model BMW might keep you rolling more and less wrench turning. Bringing your bike like Andy did is one thing, but buying a vintage bike and taking a 5000 mile(?) trip is another.  Not trying to talk you out of it, just a suggestion.
