oil "cream"
« on: April 24, 2006, 05:23:27 PM »
Oh -oh - what does this mean? On my K2 750, I have discovered a creamy white goo on the oil filler cap - on the inside! Not much, but mixed in the oil residue that coats it. The oil on the actual dipstick looks fine, and from what I can see in the tank is ok, but there is this deposit on the underside of the cap. It's like what happens when a water-cooled motor blows the head gasket - so could it be some form of condensation? Oil is only 200 miles or so old.
Gulp.
Peter.

Yes, this is condensation. Typically after a decent amount of riding to heat up the engine, oil and tank/cap, it shoul disappear.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

brewbrother - it's Mobil Super 4T for motorbikes, 20W-50, as for parrafin content - dunno.
This oil was recommended by a dealer as good for new rings etc.
Will be due for a change soon anyway - and I will look at various options.
Thanks,
Peter.
