No, it doesn't look like one.  Notice how the tank slopes from back to front all the way down, following the angle of the forks, like the 350F tank?  The tanks on the other bikes didn't do that.  They always angled the other way, following the frame downtubes.

Maybe it's a Dunstall tank.

It looks like a Norton style, maybe a Manx replica?

Looks like a Dunstall fairing, so could well be a complete Dunstall body kit.

I also can only speculate on the tank, but I want to know about the mags!  Can anyone identify those?  And, does anyone know if they would bolt-on to my CB550f?

The fairing is an old ducati 750SS fairing (I'm fairly certain). Seen a few of them on 750s over the years so it is possible to adapt them but the mounting has to be custom.

The tank is definatly aluminum (which rules out a dunstall as their 750 tanks were fiberglass) and was handmade. If I had to hazzard a guess I'd say evan wilcox may have had a hand in making it as there are few people that make aluminum tanks to order and I know he has done a few 750 tanks and seats. Someone a while back was offering norton style tanks for a 750 made out of aluminum. I am not 100% sure who it was now as it has been 2 years since I last saw the ad. Evan Wilcox will make you any kind of aluminum tank but be prepared to pay.

Greg, there's nothing wrong with the tanks you turn out.  They are really sharp.

The mags are old lesters or morris mags. They made them for the 550 and if you can find them they should be a bolt on ordeal. There is a japanese company that makes repros for brit and jap bikes but at last count they are close to $2000 a set. Triumph used them on their street tracker concept.

Morris made those style mags for HD to use on the HD xlcr cafe racer in the 70's. I think they also made them for kawasaki to use on the later KZ1000s, and for yamaha on the Rd400 (could have been lester also). The rd400 mags are single brake only (I have a set I was considering using for a project) where as the kz mags will take dual disc. If you can find a way to adapt them then these could be a good source for the mags.

The tank was made in England to fit most bikes from 250cc upwards.

It was called the Motorway tank, but I can't remember who made them.
