Replaced my helmet this week I was riding this bucket like thing made by Gmax and got a Shoei TZ-R in flat black, man what a world of difference. much quieter my head doesn't bang around as much on the windy days and it vents much better.
What did you folks consider when buying your helmet and what do you think of your choice now?

I've had a succession of Shoei RF series helmets over the last 20 years starting with an RF105 that saved my topknot.  They all have been comfortable, and from the RF800 on were quiet.  The RF1000 I have now is good.  None of the later ones seem to vent as well as the my RF200s did, though.

I still have the gmax I bought 2 1/2 years ago for 119.

It is comfortable.  Haven't tested it on the pavement, though  ;D

I will probably buy the $89 helmet cycle magazine picked as most likely to save my noggin' recently in some bright color eventually.   I think it is an r1 or some such... have to look at the magazine to get the details on it.

I go with HJC helmets as they fit my head the best.

Me too!  That and the fact that I could put my glasses on easily after I had the helmet on.  I went to a shop that carried many brands and styles to try everything on.  HJC is what worked best for me.

Me Four, the size is a big thing and how it fits, but you can't beat the price with a stick!!! My XXL only cost $110.

I can PERSONALLY vouch for the life-saving capabilities of these reasonably priced and attractive helmets. ouch.

Ditto that on the glasses. I gotta wear 'em all the time, and it is easier with an HJC...

I'm glad to know they work! Sorry you had to speak from experience... :P

Double Ditto and me sixth, I just pick up the Symax modular. Seems to fit quite nicely and I can actually put the helmet on and off without it disrupting my glasses.
