I have some chen shins..... GREAT price (27 bucks for the front, 34 for the rear), vintage look especially the front, looks like they were taken from the same mold as the speed masters....  very similar.
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

Anybody tried these cheng shins for old school lookin tires? Price is right.

The tire you have pictured is a dual sport(on ande off road) tire.  And it doesn't do either very well.  The K81 or the Conti K112/RB2 are the real mckoy, both dating back to the early 70s.
Go metric, every inch of the way!

I got my dunlop K70's from smericanmototire.com as well.  Good service and the best prices I found anywhere.  got both tires for under 100 bones.

My tires are kinda 'pseudo old school'  lol    I wanted a semi-vintage look but a more 'updated' pattern? Been using the Metzeler for a while now - seems really good in the wet which is good because that is quite common here in Orygun. It think they have a neat retro look about them.

The Pirelli was a real good price - $55 - but I haven't put it on yet, it just came via UPS today actually! lol Its probably a bit too mod for your tastes, though. .. .

Metzeler didn't make a ME77 front so I tried to get something that seemed aesthetically complimentary . .  . (boy, does that say one is WAY too into motorcycles when you start talking tire aesthetics?    ;D    )

Oh, another definitely vintage tire I almost picked up is the Dunlop K70. From all the late '60s and early '70s motorcycle magazines I have browsed (when I should be listing them on eBay for my business. . . he he) I take it they were VERY popular back in the day. ..

They actually still come in the inch sizes (3.25 - 19), are specifically for tubes, and the price is right at $50-60.

It seems like this should be somewhere on the forums so sorry if I've missed it.  I'd like to get tires that look close to the original tread patterns (like the ribbed front tire).  I've seen many accurate looking bikes on this forum, what do you guys use for tires?
Thanks,
Mark

There was a thread earlier on this. I believe it indicated the Continental K112's are a pretty good match for the vintage look.

Duro make a tire (HF302B) that is listed as classic/vintage tire. It's available front in 3.25/19 or 3.00/18 and rear in 3.50/18 and 4.00/18. They do look vintage, sort of the Avon Speedmaster style.

I had a thread on here a short time ago about vintage looking tires for my KO.  I did go with the Conti K112's.  Take a look at the pictures below and see if that is the vintage look you want.

I got these: http://www.americanmototire.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=33_82_93
They're pretty cheap for bridgestones and it was night and day compaired to the old dunlop touring tires that came on the bike. I rode in some nasty Michigan weather last summer with them and had zero problems. Bonus: they look just like the originals that came on the 750s.   This season  I'm going to pick up some white wall tires though :)

Guys, I've looked everywhere I know of for Dunlop Gold Seal (K70) tires in size 3.25x18 and 3.50x18. Does anyone know where these can be found? Advice appreciated. These are needed to keep a survivor bike correct.

Thanks,
gordon

I called this number today and Dunlop confirmed that the tire sizes I'm looking for are no longer made. It looks like I made a good decission to go with the IRC vintage look-alikes. Unless I found some never-used 40 year-old tires, I'm not getting a set of Gold Seals for the Avenger.

Thanks to both of you for taking a minute to research and post replies. I hope to return the favor -

Best regards,

Are the Continental K112's still the tire of choice for the vintage look for a K1?  Or have you guys found something better?  The front on this K1 I am working on has a Dunlop Gold Seal F11 in real nice shape.  Dealer says he can not get one for the back.
