Reassembly of Acc. Pump -- QUESTION / HELP
« on: April 29, 2006, 05:00:21 PM »
I  have an '80 Honda CB650C.  I'm in the middle of cleaning the carbs.  They're off the bike. Okay, here's my problem.

I started cleaning the carbs about 3 weeks ago and took apart #2 (with the accel pump).  I couldn't get back to the job until today.  The problem is -- I CAN'T FIGURE OUT NOW WHERE THE RUBBER STOPPER goes on the accel pump rod AND where the o-ring goes.  Clymer's is really no help at all.

I've experimented around with putting the rubber stopper (yes, that's really its name in Clymer's) in a couple different logical locations, but it doesn't ever really seem to fit right.

I assume it is an essential part.  I've read on other posts where fuel leaks if the o-ring or stopper are not put back properly.  Geez, just my luck.

Thanks alot!

Does "lightly seated" mean to screw it down until it stops and then screw it back out?

Yes, but don't force it to seat, just gently screw it in until it bottoms, then count the correct turns out.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.
