Carb Experts Needed for CB350F
« on: April 30, 2006, 08:17:35 AM »
If the perforated tube that the main jet needle inserts into had a few of the holes clogged, how would engine response be affected? Would it affect starting, idling, acceleration, deceleration....?      I ask this because I cleaned my CB350f carbs about a month ago, put in all new kits, including float levels adjustments, followed by carb syncing, and fast idle adjust.   Much improved performance and response, but there is still one minor problem.  And before I take the carbs off again to clean the perforated tube, I was hoping someone could tell me if my problem could be caused by some clogging in the perforated main jet needle tube.         And just to complain, why don't carb kits come with a replacement for that perforated tube anyway!!!

The perforations help atomize the fuel. I would guess, and it is just that, if not properly atomized, it might behave as if it were running rich.  ???

when the fuel is atomized it makes for a much more efficient burn.  meaning, you won't be spitting as much unburned fuel out of the exhaust ports.  i don't think it would make a HUGE difference but, probably some.

the reason they don't give you those in the kits are... if you clean them they are good as new.  why replace something that only needs cleaning?  carbs kits replace the essentials that become worn over time.

thanks for replies.  The plugs look light tan....good.  The only problem I have is slight, if any, hessitation around 4500 to 5500 rpm.  I thought that it could be caused by some fouling of the tube perforations.  Or maybe it's a trait of a 350F.  Other than that, it runs great, starts on one kick when cold or warm, idles at 1200 rpm with no variations, and will spin up to red line and begs for more.  Vibrations are nonexistant ... I'm very happy.  Anyway, if any one has experienced this type of hesitation, what can be done to fix it.
