new cb 750 carb ?
« on: May 01, 2006, 08:30:44 PM »
hi everyone i just stumbled on this site. i just aquired a 1975 cb 750 that is for my wife. it was in a non running condition when i brought it home. well i gave the carbs a good cleaning replaced the bowl gaskets everything else appeared to be fine. i also cleaned the plugs up and regapped them. they were at .030 my book says .024-.028. after reassembly the bike will fire and run but it will not idle. when i had the carbs apart i checked the mains and they were stamped 150. now it does have pod filters and a 4-2 exhaust. does this sound even remotely close. seems like it would be way to big. anyone with this setup wanna clue me into what they are running. i would do a plug chop but it wont rev over 4000 rpm.

150-that does sound large, but it still wouldn't hurt to pull a plug or two and check the colour, my bet is on a very dark reading.
