Topic: Sandcast going back together....YES!

Now that the cases are painted. I'm ready to put them back together, So here
are a couple of pics of the parts laid out and the painted halves. Besides a bunch
of heavy gears and stuff there's really not much in there right? 

I pulled the cases apart for ease of painting so I didn't totally disassemble the
crankshaft and transmission.  Almost all the bolt on externals are apart though.
Interesting to note the cases had "Hondabond" on all mating surfaces. A little
"oozed" out when they were tightened...but not much.

Hopefully the engine will be back together over the weekend.

Just a thought...why would you paint the cases...I thought they were done with no paint? At least mine are.

The cases come painted from the factory.  Either a PO stripped the paint from your engine or it's still in good enough condition that it doesn't look like it's painted.  Wish I could say the same about mine.

Cases were not painted from the factory. Sandcasts were bare. Some of the polished aluminum, forks, covers etc... had a clear over them. Eastwood makes a great aluminum clear paint for restoration. Sandcast cases were not cleared. Eli
